A great workshop at East China Normal University

I just returned from Shanghai where I attended an amazing workshop on the history of the People's Republic of China sponsored by Oxford University, the Harvard Yenching Institute and East China Normal University.  Thanks to my awesome colleague, Henrietta Harrison, I got to visit mainland China for the first time.  It was a boot camp on modern Chinese history, and has really started me thinking that scholars of East Europe must find a way to be in dialogue with Chinese scholars.
