#  With Kate Thompson in Kinvarra, Ireland

I flew out to Shannon to meet with the writer, fiddle-maker, and cat-lover extraordinaire, Kate Thompson, because I wrote a book about her uncle (Frank Thompson). My goal was to scan some family photos, track down an old Bulgarian documentary film, and conduct an interview, but in the process I absolutely fell in love with the West Coast of Ireland, and especially the Burren. I've never been to such a magical place, which Kate captures so wonderfully in her book, *The New Policeman*.
